New single "Everything for You" just dropped today. Not sure what I think about it just yet.

Actually prefer it to the first single
Get the feeling it’s going to be a ‘full album listen’ even more than Flotus
These two songs are even more liquid and rambling

I find all the people on their Facebook page complaining about “autotune”, “electronics”, and “robot Kurt” hilarious - this is a pretty weird band all told, you’d think their fans would be pretty open minded listeners.

I like that they're validating the approach even more by returning to it and tweaking it for a second release.
A bit like 'diary entry' Kozelek - people screamed 'gimmick' but now it's a whole different career phase, an approach that he's really explored.

Yeah, I mean they’ve made a dozen albums in their old style (and let’s be honest, there isn’t a whole ton of variety in their catalogue all things considered; slight tweaks, enough to give most albums something of their own personality, but nothing drastic), so there’s no need for them to return to that. Let them explore this style for as long as their muse desires.

You want more old school Lambchop? I can direct you to a hundred more B-Sides if you want! Most of the quality that could make a long player.
Think this will be their last album though...sneaky feeling.
Also have a sneaky feeling 'Sleep Well Beast' was the last National album. 50/50 at best they return.

Idk, the rate at which ‘Chop pumped out this new one (it will be less than 2.5 years between the releases) indicates they’re not stagnating yet. The National...it’s becoming clear that working together under that label is no longer a primary concern for them but I’m sure they’ll resurface within 4-5 years’ time. They’re in the same phase as Radiohead at this point. I bet they’ll make it to 10 albums before they call it quits. The National, that is.

The new album might be better than this and this is incredible to begin with. AOTY contender incoming, lads!

Doubt the new one will be as good as this (surely it won’t have another “The Hustle”-level piece?) but it’ll still be excellent is my guess

Nothing as amazing as the Hustle on the new one but a lot of individual songs are better than about half of this one. It's really consistent.

Actually, listening to the new one again, it could very well be the best thing they've released since Is a Woman. From Lasting Last of You onwards is an utterly perfect run.

It is quality but the vocoder nonsense jars a tad.
