I must keep reminding myself of this. I must keep reminding myself of this.

I loved this album in high school but I just now feel like I "got" it. I'm totally feeling this album right now. Is 10,000 days any good/similar to this?

I know a lot of people disagree but I enjoy 10 000 days almost as much as this. The main problem with that album is they crammed the second half with filler

10000 days is one of those album that has songs that are as great as the dogs on here, the album has way too much filler.

I completely disagree with this review in regards to the lyrics on this and the reviewers opinion that Maynard is trying too hard to come across as serious. I absolutely dig the introspective, self examining style that he uses on the album and how the content focused on in each song is directly relatable to most humans. The topics themselves are also fairly mature (he goes beyond merely singing about "love" and proffers thoughts on the reasons that love decays and what a person can do to mend the relationship) and Maynard never feels like he is "whining" or complaining.

i.e.

If there were no rewards to reap,
no loving embrace to see me through,
this tedious path I’ve chosen here,
I certainly would’ve walked away, by now.

Gonna wait it out.

or

Cold silence has a tendency to atrophy any sense of compassion.

All the words on this album seem like they were carefully planned and each song feels like it has it's own specific purpose and lesson to teach from a man who has spent significant time meditating on the topics he sings about.

I hate when people say that some albums that themselves too seriously. Well maybe they want to be

taken seriously ya know? Sometimes they don't always want humor in their records.

weird how that dialogue at the end of the album appears on The Faceless's Planetary Duality as well. Does anybody know if it's a sample off a movie or something, or were The Faceless just paying tribute to Tool?

Yeh the lyrics and vocal delivery by Maynard on this is really good. Also i can't get all the peps talking about his pretense and stuff like that. Being pretentious and being ambitious about vocals are obviously quite different things.

I think this reviewer is mildly retarded, so I commend him on his effort. Good job, sport!
