Wolves at Night.... fuck yeah- I don't know the version you speak of, but I like the version on the Pride EP. I always sing lyrics from Get It Faster (by JEW) at the beginning of that particular recording. It fits.

haha that's my least favourite song on Bleed American tbh
yeah the Pride EP version is the one I mean, that slow as hell sludgy version, so damn good

That whole EP was cool. I don't know where it would fit, but I wish they had put I Was A Lid on Mean Everything To Nothing.

To keep this discussion relevant to the thread, my friend and I were brewing some beer today reminiscing about Thrice's 2nd-to-last tour before the hiatus. In Salt Lake, that tour coincided with a Manchester Orchestra tour and some genius managed to merge them at the same huge venue.
I think 8 bands played, but I cant remember all of them- pretty sure it was White Denim, Moving Mountains, La Dispute, O'Brother, Manchester and Thrice. The show took 5 hours. I was already beat by the time these guys played, but it was awesome. Killer encore, too. Two guys from O'Brother played drums fro one of the encore songs, but I can't remember which song it was.

I Was a Lid is one of my favourite ManCo songs. Should have made it instead of Tony the Tiger, that song is a big bag of nothing
that sounds absolutely incredible, goddamn. like why was that not taped, it's DVD worthy for sure??

Seriously, Tony the Tiger is a bit of a drag.
The show was too much, to be honest. It was my first interaction with La Dispute and O'Brother and I was so restless by the time they played that I didn't give a fuck about them until weeks later. Fucking try to imagine that. I can't say the experience didn't do me any good though.

Yeah 5 hours is a best intense but man the thought of all those bands together... chuck in TDH and you've pretty much got a wet dream

I wanted to say they were there actually, but I don't think they were- It just so happens that one of two times I'd seen them was in that same venue. I was hoping someone else here had seen this Thrice tour I speak of so I could remember who else was on it. Since the tours were merged, I can't remember who was opening for who. Pretty sure it was Moving Mountains, O'Brother and Thrice and White Denim, Las Dispute and Manchester Orchestra.
I think two local bands opened.

I finally caved and listened to this record after seeing that my physical copy wasn't going to arrive until Thursday.

I absolutely love the main riff and it's one of the best on the album, very Vheissu like, and the verse is great but I really don't like the chorus.

it's one of my favourite choruses they've ever done, rip

It just feels so cheesy, like something I'd expect from Dustin's worship material. A lot of the choruses feel like that actually. Most of the songs have super fucking cool moments and then something horrible will happen, like a shitty chorus (not to say Hurricane is a shitty chorus) or bridge, and that makes it really difficult to enjoy going back and forth between great ideas and ideas that never should have made it into the studio.
Based on my first listen, this might be their worst record yet but when Beggars and M/M came out, I really didn't like those either for about six months to a year and then something clicked and I absolutely adored them. I figure the same thing will happen with this one where I'll just fall in love with it at some point in the distant future.

yeah there are some really subpar choruses here (Hurricane is definitely the best of the bunch); Blood, Wake Up, Stay With Me all sound so phoned in

Maybe seeing them play some of these songs in a week will make me enjoy this record more. That usually makes me appreciate things a little more.

Still think this is one of their least inspired efforts to date. Guess I'll just have to wait for the rhythm brothers to talk the band into being a littler rougher and more experimental again if that'll ever happen. Decent rock album but kind of disappointing knowing its Thrice.
