After many listens, man I gotta say I was wrong with my initial rating. This is actually really good, it's so much more interesting than I had originally though. This is why I gotta listen to things multiple of times, cause wow...

TKOL is a little subpar due to what the band established as being normal for a full Radiohead release.

It's very short, there only feels like an Ep's worth of true album quality material.

What saves it are the 5 songs that are up to snuff are really really good.

Released as a 4 or 5 song EP it'd probably be their very most consistent release.

I don't know what my AOTY even is. This was such a great week for music. Death Grips, Vektor and then this. This fucking album. I adore this record and I feel it will grow even more on me over time. The fact that Radiohead finally dropped the politically-charged gimmick and are now diving towards more personal territory is in itself gratifying, but the best part of it is that it worked so well and resulted in one of the saddest records I have ever had the pleasure to hear. I get why some people are not loving it - it is very mellow, and because of that it is perhaps the most accurate sonic representation of the Radiohead melancholia - but mellow doesn't mean boring. This record is anything but boring. It is heart-wrenching and soul-crushing.

tl;dr: I love this album.

So much this. Glad to see someone else loving these 3 completely different albums as much as I was this past weekend.
