Unless this is the first DG album you've heard I don't see what's so strange about it. If it's just not your thing though that's cool.

probably left a bad taste in your mouth like that dick on one of their album covers, right?

Pretty much lol. I was close to giving this a 1.5 but decided to be generous since there are some admittedly cool moments on here

I guess we'll just agree to disagree lol
"if you use industrial beats you are ripping off dg now haha yeah totally" notice how I said at the context of when Yeezus dropped tho. Now industrial hip hop isn't necessarily as obscure a thing as it was before

"Kind of surprised I haven't heard any DG rip offs yet." But what the hell was Yeezus and that Tyler, the Creator album then?
Have no idea about Tyler, but I think Kanye Kanyefied Yeezus enough to where it wasn't a rip off. But if I asked Kanye if he (at the very least) had heard of Death Grips before/while creating Yeezus and he says no then he's a fucking liar. The only track on Yeezus that has a very prominent DG influence in my opinion is "I Am a God". Those low end sounds sound straight out of TMS or NLDW and that vocal sample used throughout the song sounds and is used the exact same way DG used a different constant vocal sample on "Double Helix".

@Dylan620 Figured it was your first DG cause it's actually pretty straightforward by their standards. You probably wouldn't like their other stuff then.

"i'd love to know what the admittedly cool moments are tbh"
The slower sections of "Hot Head," more-or-less the entirety of "Spikes" which was the only track I liked the whole way through... probably some interesting beats and sounds scattered here and there... idk, this album just sort of blurred together into an onslaught of noise. I plan on giving this a second chance later on today though, hopefully it grows

like most of the alt rock that dominates your pie chart zak

Album Rating: 1.5
'alt rock' wasn't a term anyone used in the 90's and on this site seems to cover approximately 97% of all guitar music ever recorded - the pie charts, tags and genre labels brought up in discussion are a nonsense
just look at DG - half the people here think they're hip hop and the other half think they're everything but hip hop

A sentence no one ever said in '92 'I'm going to pick up albums by all my favourite alt rock acts Nirvana, RATM and Red Hot Chili Peppers - I love this genre, its so varied'
Death Grips have guitars and they're painfully 'alternative'...tag it up boyz

what did people call rhcp

in the 90's - probably funk rock
RATM would have just been called rock, people would have just pointed out the rapping vocals on top of that
Nirvana would have been grunge
Alternative was just a general term rather than a genre specific - it tells you flat nothing about how something will sound
'Alt rock' seems to mean 'late 80's and 90's rock music' which is really broad when other genres here are so specific.
