While we appreciate having such an avid fan as to go that hardcore in supporting our album, I wish they would find other ways of showing their appreciation that aren't gaming the system and manipulating numbers. Frank and I both felt we'd like to know who this guy/gal are and simultaneously thank them for their enthusiasm but also ask that they not do this again.
And while on the subject of appreciation and enthusiasm, it's been really awesome to have the Sputnik community embrace our music. We don't take it for granted at all! And we're excited for the challenge of delivering a 2nd album that lives up to the promise and idealism of our 1st. Hopefully we're up to the task – I think we are. ;)

I'm excited to see what you're gonna do to follow this up, since you were spreading rumours about how it will differ from A Dream In Static. The little teaser on Instagram was great so I don't think I'll be dissapointed

Yeah, Jamie is super rad though. He left me a birthday wish and I mildly fan-boy'd.
Only mildly....

Skyline is the best instrumental track on here (followed by The Closest I've Come).

@Toondude10, why do you keep changing their similar artists away from Hans Zimmer towards prog bands they have nothing in common with? They call themselves "cinematic rock" for a reason. Hans Zimmer's live show and composition are way more similar than Haken or Arcane are to Earthside. They talk about Hans Zimmer openly as a major influence and have never mentioned Haken or Arcane as influences or peers they've expressed an interest in touring with or collaborating with.

This album is stellar, one of recent faves, I only play it when I'm really in the mood because I don't want to ruin the magic lmao
cant wait for the follow up, fuck

@secretstache just because Zimmer is an influence doesn't mean they sound like him. Also I highly doubt that you listened to much prog.

Toondude, I'm guessing *you* haven't listened to much progressive music, if out of all the progressive bands out there, you think Earthside sound like Arcane or Haken. As far as modern progressive bands go, they have almost nothing in common with Earthside. Those bands completely lack cinematic/atmospheric elements to their sound. They're traditional bands with a built-in frontman rather than composers that collaborate with vocalists, ensembles, and instrumentalists. Their live show is nothing like Earthside's whereas Hans Zimmer live is like Earthside's live show on steroids. Haken is goofy and kitschy whereas Earthside is epic and atmospheric. Haken/Arcane are more about technicality in their playing like Dream Theater and Rush, whereas Earthside is more about complexity, nuance, and beauty in their compositions (like Hans Zimmer). If Earthside were a singe person composing this exact same music for films, this would be a no-brainer, but because they're a collective who make albums, they have to be marketed as a progressive rock band to promote themselves. But actually listening to the music, comparing Earthside to Haken is like comparing Blink-182 to the Sex Pistols because they're both "punk."
