'Habitual has The Welding so if nothing else there's that.'

This made me go listen to that song again and it owns so hard. I overlooked it pretty quickly initially.

Which of their others should I jam? Or is it not worth it because I'm not a huge fan of this?

Try Prehistoricisms, and then Void. They were "sludgier" in their early releases. For something different from them, you could try Habitual Levitations which is more progressive rock than anything else.

Valley of Smoke might get the slight edge on that. Maybe. Or they're just tied.

Prehistoricisms is a lot more sludgy with less melodic prog influences.

these guys change it up with each album so they won't get pigeonholed to one sound, pretty incredible

Hawks, I'm not a big fan of this other but have enjoyed pretty much everything else they've done. This even includes the last album even though others liked that a lot less than this.

"these guys change it up with each album"

i can see how someone who listens to one, maybe two genres tops, might think that this band changes it up with each album
