No.
No less self-indulgence.
More.
I want more, I want more.
More equals better, it's what I want.

Well I was implying indulgence at the expense of something - so a bad indulgence, like choosing to run the closing credits 10 times in a row at the start of your movie
That sort of indulgence, a testing thy patience indulgence
|
| |
Self indulgence is good because great artists make better stuff and bad artists make a bunch of shit, and that's good.

Life’s black and white for you huh

Sometimes. Most of the time. Not really. I don't know. Probably. Maybe. Definitely Maybe by Oasis.
|

Good you brought up that Anna Von Hausswolf comparison Doofus, I actually thought about it too. I honestly gave Aviary a 4.5 on a wimp but went back and once the surprise factor is lost, the album is starting to deflate for me.

Ok, but have you people listened to Tragedy? 'Cause you should.

i see the self indulgance and masturbatory tendencies, things i don't usually like nor defend, but this time... i dunno man, it's a beauty of a record, idgaf.
if this is Julia giving herself the proverbial autoflagelation just let her keep it up, cuz she doing a fine job.

I'll keep trying - I've only listened to the album three times, I can handle two more full spins.
Perhaps this will be the turnaround album of 2018 for me - it can happen :/
|
| |
I admire your dedication Doof, 5 spins for a (current) 2/5 that lasts an hour & a half is admirable, perhaps foolhardy but admirable nonetheless.
My own tolerance levels are wavering slightly, unfortunately. The 2nd spin was the best, I knew what to expect but it still had the wonder & mystique, now it's just getting a little tiresome... especially as I'd rather skip the first few tracks entirely.

Comparing this to slow cinema is interesting—like in Tsai’s STRAY DOGS, for example (is that still on Netflix?), gradual motion within an unblinking frame becomes “the story itself”...

I’m thinking that focused listening may not be the way to go for this; at least not at first. I’m going to keep on with it as background music in the hope that I’ll gradually warm to it or that some moments will naturally stick out before I attempt another close listen.

Anything on the newie fitting for Halloween? Mulling over whether to check the album today or wait until the first of November

"Hentai Cum Dungeon - Food Product"
"Hentai Cum Dungeon"
Wtf even is this
|
| |
An album of unparalleled nuance & complexity I imagine
|
| |
Hentai Cum Dungeon's Food Product is a masterpiece of the world of avant-garde electronic music of the 21st century, taking inspiration from digital hardcore, breakcore, minimalism and the works of Stockhausen and Xenakis, with pieces that will amaze you from the first listen such Daddy's Boy-Cunt and more subtle pieces such as Sucking Penis for One Dollar.

I tried again...there are some hot spots. Still not bonding with it as a whole.
Wouldn't make a top 300 albums of the year for me but I'm guessing this will feature prominently for many so good work Holter, she knows her audience

at least you like palberta

Can't get two more different albums but yeah, that's a good one
Plus 'Loud City Song' still sits on a 4.5 for me
|
| |
I just felt like mentioning it: they don’t get much press (idk where you live but if they come around you gotta see em live, hilarious and skilled as hell)
LCS probably peak Holter but I’m listening through her discography now to see if I can write about the whole thing...it’s all at least interesting IMO
