I'd put all post-BNW material within the 3.5 realm. They're all pretty great albums but lack immediate highs and the 'welcoming' vibe of their older stuff.

Have you ever imagined what it would be like if Maiden started with The Book of Souls and ended with with Iron Maiden? Would we praise AMOLAD or BNW as higher highs and Powerslave and POM as 'replicas' of what they used to be?

Definitely a grower. As expected. The first listen felt a little disappointing, but it's gotten a little better every time since.

opening of shadows of the valley sounds like opening of wasted years to an unbelievable extent

"Shadows of the Valley" probably is the weakest song on the album in that regard honestly. Everything else is gold.

Are we not gonna get a staff review for this?
|

The music on this is great, but am I the only one who's disappointed by the artwork?
|
| |
Kinda on the fence about the artwork too. Seems like an ugly old looking Eddie just doesn't cut it anymore

Halfway through my first listen now, it's really holding my attention well thus far.

this is so cheesy omg. Can't get past the first 4 tracks.
Also most of the staff is not really about metal, so I wouldn't count on a staff review.
