Mercy's Starlight 2 right? I barely remember some of these songs despite listening to them all multiple times. It's definitely better than Revolt, and Psycho and Mercy are pretty weak too admittedly but I kind of like them anyway.

I feel like this is one of the albums that i might grow into, but it's really not special right now. except handler, which is now in my top 10 from them

Spinning this for the first time...wtf this band are horrific now, pure pop act, I skipped the two albums before this and some weird transformation has clearly taken place

Not getting the hate for "Revolt" tbh
I mean it's not great, but it's certainly not the abomination that most have made it out to be. The tempo switch-up for the (admittedly fun & catchy) chorus is a nice touch

Insurrection - I have now sampled the musical delicacies to which you refer and for some reason I'm now listening to a sample of JFK and have come to the conclusion Muse have totally and utterly lost the plot.
This doesn't play like rock, it plays like a musical I guess - piecemeal histrionic bullshit of the highest order with not a single redeeming feature

how would you know if theres a redeeming feature if you havent listened to the album

I'm currently on track 10 of 12 and this is probably the worst thing so far, the cheese is unbearable. If it comes back from this then it'll be a comeback of Lazarus proportions

you were a fan of their old stuff? cause i have a hard time believing you couldnt at least appreciate reapers, the handler, or defector

The final track Drones they're not even attempting to make this a pleasant experience for anyone - ballsy move making a play for the Songs of Praise crowd.
Their old stuff has it's moments, but generally I don't like them no. The hard rock tunes here are embarrassing, less inspired than last year's Royal Blood album and the guitar wankery and vocal gymnastics I could do without. The chorus to Defector may be the most irritating piece of music I've heard this year.
This album doesn't flow like music, the fact it was designed for the stage at least allows me to understand their intentions more. It's like they auditioned for Flash Gordon The Musical but were turned down for being too camp

I think if you go into this record expecting them to have a return to their Glory Days you will be disappointed. They're not going to release an Absolution Vol II. While the record is corny and cringey at times, there's more then enough guitar licks and energy to make up for it. I could sympathize with a 2 or 2.5 but I don't think this deserves the lowest score possible.

Honestly I think most records don't deserve a 1.0. Not sure if I even have more than 4 ones.

there are certainly a few that deserve that 1 rating

Ins I'm amazed the band have retained their audience - I think part of this must be their live reputation. I can see this might be a lot of fun for others, I've never been a fan of Queen, Meatloaf and over theatrical rock stuff like that
For my tastes this is genuinely a 1 folks, I don't much like Muse and this is my least favourite Muse album
