Truth.
I just... don't get the love.
There isn't much memorable going on here. I've heard this album at least five times and the few things that stick out besides a few good songs are, "THIS. DICK. AIN'T. FREEEEEE!" (which about made me want to kill myself after the 100th time he said it in 2 minutes) and "blahblahblahblahblah, BOO BOO! blahblahblahblahblah, BOO BOO!" which had about the same effect on my psyche.

@dbizzles
Everyone 5ing this album already discredited themselves when they started comparing it to DSoTM before it was even officially released...
Honestly, this is far worse than Stans ever were.

I don't know where those DSoTM comparisons were coming from, it honestly makes no sense to me

@rosa cuz you guys overlook every dope rap album there is then obsess over the only ones that are thrown in your face by the radio.

obviously the radio is a stand-in for mainstream media.
woah rosaparks being obtuse and crabby, what a surprise.

Yeah, I'm not getting it. People are making such a big deal about the lyrics and the message. They're sometimes clever, they rhyme, and above all they're about social justice.
That's all been done to death, no?
Instrumentation is a bit more interesting, but I've heard hip-hop like it before. I guess it's just good to know mainstream rap doesn't have to be the worst kind, but I don't see how this is groundbreaking.

'The radio' better conveys what I mean, though, cuz the radio is historically notorious for putting on shitty overrated rap.

only one person compared this to dsotm, stop acting like every person who 5's this record believes that comparison. it's a stupid comparison anyway

this is the modern day Dark Side of the Moon, the zeitgeist is perfect.

Guzzo was also saying 'its not ridiculous to compare this to DSoTM'

they could have been bumping it ironically, hil. and even if they weren't, that's 12 people out of the 400+. that's far and away the minority, so it's not really fair to act like everyone who 5's this agrees with that idiotic comparison.

I tried to like this so much, I'm still trying to at least appreciate it.
It's like people bought the hype before the album came out and now no one wants to back down from their initial anticipation and accept that this isn't good.
I could see some 3.5's, maybe 4's if your dick is that hard for Kendrick, but the amount of people calling this album a classic, even just for the genre, is absurd.
|

I wasn't even planning on getting the album at all since I wasn't a fan of the singles at first or gkmc but I gave it a shot anyway after seeing the praise and I love it
so nah I think you're just a moron

Yeah, I'm a moron because I think this is below average.

I never said the sounds or anything musically is comparable between this and DSotM. However its popularity and affect on its respective genre could be pretty comparable, especially if TPAB keeps gaining the popularity is has already.
That's why I said it isn't radical to compare the two.

@round I really like this album, and I don't care what you rate it or why, but lets be honest the hype is unbelievable and its not just a couple people on this site calling this 'the best most impactful album of our generation' before it even was released

It's not even Sputz that is hyping the shit out of this though, nah mean. Critics are absolutely creaming their pants over it. Check out the Metacritic score, it has a 97. Thats the 3rd highest rated album with at least 20 reviews on Metacritic's site.

@hil i agree that saying things like that are ridiculous. but guzz is right, the whole internet is going crazy over this album. it's not one of those albums that catches on here but goes relatively unnoticed everywhere else. that said, it's still way too early to tell how big or small of an impact this record will have.
