the remasters are a straight up improvement, very unusually so.
e; i just spent a bit of time making back to back comparisons to give a better response, and essentially the difference is just a much brighter sound and clearer mix. the dynamic range is largely retained on this one specifically but compressed a little (not overly so) on the mantle and ashes. the biggest difference in overall sound clarity is probably on the mantle, but it's to the extent that it might not be to your taste if you are a purist.

Thanks for the feedback, i was confused about ordering remastered LP's. Guess it's time to order those. Its really 50/50 when it comes to metal music remasters, had some negative experience with those.

hallways is basically just a standard driving folk metal song, it even has a full-blown fast-paced guitar solo ffs. certainly not a definitive agalloch track if you ask me

Idek bro I can't really rank I have a lot of favorites. When it comes to metal this, In the Nightside Eclipse, and Don't Break the Oath are my top 3.
It gets a little fuzzy after that.
