Slowly making my way through Godflesh's stuff. This one leaves a more immediate impression than stuff like Post-Self, Purge, or even Streetcleaner did on first listen. Songs sound tightly constructed and I really love the production; everything is so heavy and low-end which aligns perfect with the nihilistic lyrics. I felt like Post-Self meandered at times, Purge suffered from sounding repetitive and Streetcleaner, while genius, is a rough listen at times.

dawg how are you gonna say it’s a rough listen with a username like that

Not rough as in "unlistenable" but rough as in everything from the drum machine, to the guitar, to the industrial fx work has so much friction that it creates an intentionally unpleasant listening experience.

Streetcleaner is unpleasant indeed, I’m kinda scared to go back to it. But working on it. I prefer Post-Self too, but I like how dynamic this one is. The Dub versions rule too, jamming those more often these days.

Shut Me Down might be the heaviest song ever created
Would be a hell of a wrestling entrance theme

Listening a lot to An Undying Love for A Burning World this year got me thinking of comeback records and this was one hell of a comeback record
