They could still have been more popular with songs like retrace and inevitable.

I feel like their exposure peaked with New Surrender, I remember hearing a handful of songs from that on the radio.

I've only ever heard The Feel Good Drag (first song I heard by them, that song + the praise for Cities here is what made me check them out) and Impossible on the radio. Maybe Paperthin Hymn, actually.

I don't really agree that they're a band built for the radio, despite their accessible sound. I can't really articulate why, but the singles they've released since Impossible aren't really the kind of stuff I expect to hear on the rock stations, at least the ones in LA I'm familiar with.

I kinda thought they had a chance to hit it big with Dark Is The Way and that album just didn't do it for them, I don't think they ever could have been huge though.

Great review Sowing. I'd have to disagree with this album feeling "relaxed" though. On the contrary, I found it to be quite brooding
and heavy. The slower tempos are reminiscent of DITW (as you pointed out), but that doesn't make the impact less profound than it
would be with faster tempos -- in fact if anything, it actually increases. Plus, there is FAR more distortion on this album than DITW.

The only Anberlin album that I have ever felt "relaxed" listening to was New Surrender.

Only that they didn't do that in their first albums. This is just a 3 for me at the moment. A disappointing way for them to say goodbye tbh.

The cover we got in at work has more of a blue-ish background and doesn't have any of the, uh... substance on the fingers.
