iTunes Radio sucks.

Album is okay so far, it reminds me of deftones.

Does this really sound that much like the Deftones?

That worries me...

The slower songs remind me of them at least

Ah, well that's the kinda deftones I don't mind.

Slow Chevelle songs usually aren't that great anyway.

"...as La Gargola contains just as much pounding thunder as their previous LP, 2011’s Hats Off to the Bull. "

What? HOTTB has nothing on this. Except for Meddler, Revenge, Ruse and maybe Envy the album is a complete snoozefest. I didn't even liked the three heavier songs of that album (i.e title track, Face to the Floor and Pinata).

Other than that, after at least 10 listens I agree with lots of points here... rating is pretty accurate too.

"Pete Loeffler is a really good guitar player. He might not be super technical, but his phrasing, tone, and use of effects is fantastic"

Seconded. This album makes me want to learn how to play guitar. I love his trademark string scratching.

@savaah

Thanks. Everyone else seems to be digging this album more than I did, but really, I think that's good either way. Chevelle get a lot of crap for sticking to their guns instead of evolving. Honestly, I really wasn't expecting La Gargola to do anything for me, especially since I wasn't too big a fan of the first single "Take Out the Gunman" at all. Considering that they release new material rather frequently, this album wasn't on my most anticipated in the least. Glad I was wrong, because it's a great listen and an even better surprise.

Though the fact that this album is getting better reception from the SputnikMusic community than Animals as Leaders' new album discourages me a little...oh well.
