I'm trying that Disc 2 then 1 thing now.

might be the familiarity of having heard it a few times prior to the album, but i love the title track. that song is really well put together.

"Both discs rule and this is undoubtedly their best work since funeral (in my opinion, better)"

I am starting to think this might be my favorite album. Porno is definitely my favorite song they've ever done.

The worst thing about this is that the title track is the best song.

I keep hearing that this is a grower, but to be honest I'm liking it less and less with every spin.

It's Never Over is phenomenal. As are Porno, Afterlife and Supersymmetry. Flashbulb Eyes may be my least favorite Arcade Fire song ever.

The whole double-album thing is such a gimmick. It only lasts 75 minutes. Did they really think Supersymmetry was that essential?

A few things after reading the last several comments:

The title track is NOT the best song. Joan of Arc is better...along with maybe two or three others.

The double album is kind of a gimmick...it's not long enough to require two cds and if it is (and while almost every song is brilliant) I'm sure one could have been left off and released as a bonus track.

Point number three: this will end up being a 5 for me I can feel it

I'm thinking point three for myself as well Sowing.

Im reading this philosophy book about how our total experience of life is all a projection or better

yet a 'reflection' of our inner essence and listening to the lyrics of reflektor while reading that

hit me so hard.

yeah the fact that this is a double album is kind of bullshit, it could easily be trimmed down to a single-disc with a few bonus tracks or something. is a double album supposed to have more impact, or be more impressive or something? i don't really understand the intent behind it
