Always been my favorite of theirs and one of my favorite black metal albums, the production is fucking crazy its literally the loudest album I know of yet still clear and balanced (i have no idea what im talking about)

This might be the best Dimmu record for me. Nicholas Barker's drumming is out of this world in this record

Wholeheartedly agree about Nicholas' drumming. I love the production of this album; i know it's super sterile, but this the music on this record demands it.

This album set the bar for pristine production when it came out. I'd argue there was no metal album released before it that was this loud and clear. It's one of the most unnatural sounding albums ever but it fits the style so well. I prefer Spiritual Black Dimensions to this.

I know clear production like this doesn't suit every album but there are alot of records that i think would benefit from this level of production (how un-kvlt of me i know).

It's pristine sure, but definitely not the first to sound this "good".

The vocals are the weak link here, at times is sounds like Steven Hawking with a terrible lisp and it detracts from the intense drums/guitars.

Can anyone recommend other symphonic/melodic black metal? It doesn't have to be quite as overblown as this

Spiritual Black Dimensions is sweet, but it's nowhere near this for me.

i concede, it's more standard BM than anything else, but i think it's so good that it should be checked regardless if you're into this album tbh ;(

(but for the record I'm primarily a fan of for all tid, and to a lesser degree, stormblast over this era of dimmu...the other threads aren't as active so whateva sorry i saw this bumped)
