Lateralus is an awful place to start if you're trying to get into them. Aenima was the first album of theirs I properly dug, cause it's not got the overly long tracks Lateralus does but it still progs pretty hard (just in a slightly more straightforward format, FtM/APC/Vool style). 10,000 Days also has some of their most instant tracks (and some of their worst..)
