Alright alright, sometime this year.

DT would work well as a prog death band, They should definitely tread into prog territory

"Where are the solos?"

Read a fairly recent interview where they stated the two guitarists spent a lot of time trying to convince the other guy to pick up the solo on this track or that, until they came to the conclusion that they don't like playing solos that much anymore.

I'm ambivalent about it, I guess. I really like some of their early lead work, but I see what sort of results (here on Construct) they come up with when they make song structure and arrangement the main focus, and I like that too.

Still, even with the focus on arrangement, just arrange a couple more solos in, ya? ;)

Yeah if the song doesn't require them thats perfectly fine, but in certain songs I felt that a solo would have fit very well.

Apathetic doesn't live up to that opening riff. The guitar tone during state of trust is so good

This so much!!!!

Despite being better than We Are The Void, this is still a letdown considering DT standards.

Yeah its enjoyable but they're still restricting themselves (Jac's going to go nuts saying they've

revolutionised melodeath) but in reality its not really very fresh. I absolutely love none becoming,

very intense one of my favourites along with science of noise and possibly uniformity

Guitar tones are fantastic as always, these guys have mastered the art of guitar production

You just described in a nutshell my thoughts about this. :D

I see what they were going for, trying to do something slightly different from what they've been doing for the last 3 albums, and kudos for that. But I miss some of the passion and intensity which made this band what they are.

Sometimes this sounds a little lifeless almost robotic like.

I think they need to explore musical ideas on their songs more, spread the

songs out a bit more, all the songs don't have to be between 4 and 5 minutes. Their instrumental

sections last for 20 odd seconds, there's so much more they could do. They've explored melodeath as

much as they possibly could, its time explore other genre's, oh yes I did.

Omair you really want them to go prog don't you? :D

It could work as long as they do not completly forsake the groovy parts and catchy hooks.

I tend to agree about the instrumental breakdowns - they need to be longer! It's like "Hey, look at this cool idea we had for a bridge - nah, forget it, back to the riffage!"

This record kicks the ass, though. I love the spacey atmosphere throughout, and I think they are getting experimental in comparison to their past few records. They said in an interview that they used a very different approach to writing and the recording process, anyway.

^^^^^^^ I think Damage done was a prime example of this.

Yeah here Martin stepped back and let the other guys compose more, and brandstorm (keyboards) played the largest role, which is great but its still very much in the melodeath domain.

@Dream: :D, well not full on 70s prog (we have enough bands doing that) but they need to add some diversity to the music and experiment, thats what I mean by "progressive"

Damn bro, you know what I meant. :P Some prog bands tend to favor musicianship instead of hooks.

Some songs off Character (The Endless Feed and Senses Tied) could be a good starting point.
