Carving Desert Canyons has little to no variation, making the album very hard for me to enjoy.

1)AAL self titled

2)The Collective

The rest are unclear to me.

Edit: Actually fuck, AAL s/t and Collective are tied for first.

probably. it's close for me though, this sounds a lot more cohesive in comparison, whereas the Collective had a few more outright strong songs

the cohesiveness is part of it yeah, it just flows a lot better. i like the parts a lot more too.this feels a lot "bigger" and more confident, if that makes any sense

agreed on individual songs though, although atlas novus and traveler are two of the best songs theyve written

definitely agreed with the last bit. This does feel a lot more confident, they really let loose a bit more, which is better, because sometimes they felt quite restrained on the collective

depends if you like this kind of music in the first place
if you do than you'll recognise how good it is

I love this kind of music, just not this band. I can't even work out what it is, I didn't really like The Collective much either

That's odd then.
How come you don't like them?

I think it's because I literally get no emotion out of it (I know plenty of people disagree). Same as band like The Human Abstract, Rings Of Saturn, or the bits of Dream Theater where they just go all technical for no reason - I just don't get anything from it other than 'That was neat/clever'

I don't think any of those other bands try to convey emotion though, lol.

Well it's what this feels like. I think I'll just give up tbh
