I wonder what my top 10 Persefone songs would be.

Number 1 is probably still "Underworld."

Your sound-off was probably the best thing about the new album ha

I'll save my whining until there comes a review. Still can't believe I've rated it so low but I stand by it for now at least.

A Bionicle reference might really be my most upvoted soundoff. Unexpected but I'll take it.

I know you definitely aren't on board with what they've done, but I'm 100% for it and think there are a lot of positives to take from it.

Your Bionicle sound off put me on a nostalgia trip. I still think those stupid fucking lego robot men things are cool as shit, fuck me.

I used to be involved in the Bionicle roleplay forums back when Lego.com still had a forum section. Was a simpler time back then.

That was a magical hour last night listening to these for the first time with the new album. Are all their albums like that?

Not exactly! You're in the progressive era of the band, spanning from Spiritual Migration to now. Prior to that, they leaned moreso on progressive death metal and melodic death metal. Their evolution has brought them to this point, and it's definitely amazing to see.

All of their records are stellar, but for different reasons. If their new album is your kind of style, you'd love Aathma and Spiritual as well, but don't discount the others; their songwriting is incredible. Core is a classic album, featuring three massive, 20 minute tracks detailing the story of Persephone, the band's namesake.

I'll 100% have to check out more of their stuff, might take me a while tho with this and new Rolo to sink my teeth into. I was honestly blown away by the new album, great weekend of music

I'm happy to hear that! There will be a thread soon enough, should have time later today to write and edit.

Man I have a massive rant ready waiting lol. What a disappointing album. And my expectations were low too.

Feel free dude. We are very clearly hearing different stuff here but to each their own.

Tbf id have to come back to this album I was going through a period of noodly disdain.

iirc there was just a lot of overextended tracks on this but idk its been a few years since I jammed this in full

I've loved it more and more when revisiting, but it is definitely their most noodly. But I think I exaggerated how bad it was, because the overall songwriting is stunning and there are a lot of beautiful moments here.

Woah, this album hit a 4.0 average at some point. Well-deserved, glad to see Persefone get some higher points on the board.
