"so youre saying i could be inventing a genre here?"

first of all, whether you are or not is not up to you.

but no, i can guarantee you that you are not inventing a genre. i haven't heard said music, but I think I can gather what it sounds like (more or less) from what you've said about it.

Yeah Wut didn't inspire an entire movement. It was a big track, not really in regard to influence, but I'm just talking about whether it should or shouldn't be called dubstep (and why people are trying not to call it that, even when I think they should).

And if you're talking about the air horn sample, well fine don't like it, but I think the track is fucking awesome.

Alright cool. I kind of love the air horn sample, might be from my love of Where Were U in 92.

yeah fair enough. i just spent 8 months in Africa and especially in the poorer areas like Eastern Africa, they are juuuuuuuust starting to discover DJing (they're decades behind, G-Unit is still big news in Kenya for example) and literally every DJ on Kenyan or Ugandan radio uses the same three effects over and over, one being the air horn. they barely even dj, they just play original tracks and hit certain buttons to make certain samples play. it drove me crazy.

the family i was living with in nairobi for 3 months, the parents went away one weekend so the 17 year old kid throws a house party and asks me for some good music (he had hear me listening to zeds dead, lol, and he loved it) so i gave him a bunch of bar9, reso, that sort of shit. anyway, allllllll through that night (until 11AM if im lyin im dyin) I heard the same twenty songs I gave him over and over, with that fucking airhorn sample coming in every five seconds. i can't listen to bar9's "Shaolin Style" the same way ever again.

"motherfuckers someone tell me what dubstep is all ive heard is burial"

go to http://intriket.bandcamp.com/ and listen to track 7, 'The Woods'

that's dubstep. i mean it's one specific style of dubstep, but that'll help you start to understand until someone decides to break it down for you.

the woods is a very ambient form of dubstep tho. it just feels weird lumping it with other dubstep artists like skrillex/nero/flux pavilion idk it doesnt sit right for me.

Yes, it's you. No one cares if you don't feel comfortable placing that kind of music next to the pioneers of dubstep, like Skrillex, Nero, and Flux pavilion. And of course you're digging Porter Robinson. It's already been pointed out to you that a lot of dubstep is very atmospheric as well

Maybe you should take your confusing clownstep and your tourist ways, and just leave until you actually know enough to talk about it

uhh wow i was just saying how i felt you dont have to be a fucking douche about it. i know i dont know a lot about electronic. no shit, everyone knows that. but do you seriously not want people to learn more about it? cause your ego and superiority complex sure as hell make it come across that way.
