the solo, maybe

but the song itself is so firmly rooted in blues, it'd put it more as a blues rock with rather experimental tendencies (for 1968)

This deserves more than a 3.6 average.

Even a small increase would be nice. This album is still overlooked/underappreciated in my opinion, and the rating is a reflection of that.

album is really nice. I think I used to have it at a 4.5 a few years back, but some of the shorter tunes could've used more work and I think the album would've been much stronger if they put more emphasis on a group dynamic instead of the album being mainly dominated by Jimmy Page.

Agreed. I think it's great for what it is though. I like straightforward Zeppelin as much as experimental Zeppelin.

Yeah, that would've been great, they did it on Achilles and it ended up being a master piece. Some people may argue that's not their best song but it is definitely the one were each member does an incredible work, shining on their own

I think the planned album that was supposed to come in '81 (cited by Page as being a return to the early bluesy rock sound) would've been the resurgence that the band desperately needed after this and In Through The Out Door. Both albums are good, but it seemed like the group wasn't entirely on the same page.

In Through has a couple of awesome songs, the concept was pretty good but the result not so much

yeah, but it suffers from the same problems as this in which it is heavily controlled by a faction (this time, John Paul Jones and Robert Plant).

Both of these albums deserve higher ratings in my opinion. I think I'm gonna rate this one a 4.0, but I need to give it a few more listens to make sure.

Achilles is the only thing in here that's superior to anything from Blackstar

I wasjust kidding, but if we're going to be serious, I definitely prefer Presence to Blackstar. Though I prefer Bowie To Led Zeppelin.

"Achilles is the only thing in here that's superior to anything from Blackstar"

For Your Life though. Also every song on here is better than Girl Loves Me, c'mon man.

This is a strange comparison though anyway and I'm sorry that I even started it lol
