I have to disagree there Violinist. hilst riitiir may not be the band's most successful, it still challenges the musical boundaries expected by their fans and crushes those boundaries to create new sounds. And I personally think this album is just as good as Axioma and Vertebrae, perhaps even Runn. Like I always say though, to each his own.

this literally sounds just like their previous albums except they watered down the black metal even more and focused on prog. they dont push any boundaries whatsoever

Have to disagree with you there Hitman. The black metal being watered down is really just black metal being eschewed to make way for more progression and experimentation with structure, musicianship, etc. I believe they do push the boundaries, but these boundaries are the ones that were created on Axioma. Obviously these boundaries are not exactly the same ones that, say, bands like pink floyd or opeth did on albums such as 'DSOTM' or 'Still Life', but they are nonetheless boundaries that have been set by the band, for their fans-and their fans only-to hear and decide. I'm aware this album is never going to suit everyone's tastes, and it may make a few throw their Enslaved merchandise into fire, but as long as the band themselves are happy with the outcome, I say that's that.

have never been able to get into this band. don't like the clean vox much. nothing "bad" about them, but they are very bland to me. gonna give this its fair chance though.

I just got this and I'm actually pretty eager to hear it. I saw them tour with Opeth a while back, they really blew me away. I've been into them since.

Review is good, man. POS'd.
