Are you ignoring like 75% of every mxc band in the last 20 years?

yeah post hardcore/metalcore/deathcore. on that point though, it is kind of interesting that the movement didn't branch out into more traditional metal genres for the most part. i would guess it's because core was booming and easy to market.

true but the chrisitian scene was fairly segregated and insulated. i suppose i'm just wondering why at that time you didn't see like christian death metal take off in a similar way.

yeah there are a few really good "unblack" metal bands. hellhammer from mayhem playing on an antestor album is one of my favorite facts of all time haha

Antestor rips. Those bands caught so much flak in the beginning

and hellhammer said it best. one of the founders of the scene but most people still maintain he's wrong lol

"In my opinion, black metal today is just music. I will tell you that neither I nor other members of Mayhem were ever really against religion or anything else. We are primarily interested in music."

I also think a lot of it just comes down to a lot of MySpacecore coming out of the bible belt. they weren't a Christian band but when I first found out Iwrestledabearonce were from Louisiana my immediate response was "yeah that sounds right."
