It's slightly less choppy JViney, and the better bits of the previous version stand out a bit more, but IMHO this review is still lacking some sort of vital panache. It's okay - happens to the best of us.

This album is full of jokes. William Shatner does awful covers of songs, that are so bad they are good and comedic, yet when Lou and Metallica burst out with some hilarious shit you people just don't get it. Holy shit, if you take this album seriously you need to get your head checked and you need to find a sense of humor somewhere...anywhere.
The difference between intentional and unintentional is more than just two letters

Honestly, putting all of these contentious points aside, I just fucking enjoy the record. Lou Reed is the same as he's always been; he plays around with staying in time with the music in the same way that competetive surfers play around with keeping up with the wave. The weaving in and out of tune and harmony is what keeps it interesting, as it's Reed's trademark. The review mentions the song "Heroin," and I cannot think of a more apt comparison to what Lou Reed is doing here: the attitude and performance take precedence over traditional aspects such as pitch and clean tones. It's almost like hip-hop; spoken word that ebbs and flows, sometimes matching the beat, sometimes cutting it up. I'm just stunned that there aren't a few more people from this site that can appreciate this record in some way.
Also, the review is really, really good, though I disagree substantially with its content.

I still can't get over how bad this is. I didn't think I'd ever hear anything worse then 'We Rule the Night' by Sonic Syndicate.
