I prefer the glorious sprawl and occasional narrative continuity of THE RIVER but it’s difficult to not crown this the Boss’s “best” album.

This or Darkness. Difficult choice.

it's actually The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle is definitely his best. This is second. Darkness probably third but honestly Greetings From Asbury Park is super underrated too

In my book this is probably his 3rd or 4th best. Darkness is the easy no. 1 for me, Nebraska second and either this or Born In the U.S.A. would be third. I think the incredible high highlights of Bruce's oeuvre are quite well spread among albums, possibly no album containing more than 3 of my 15 favorite songs of him.

That's a great off the cuff list, mine would be almost identical but I would swap The Wild, Innocent into first place and put The River after Born to Run
