yea, this band is more or less an encapsulation of everything that was happening in Brooklyn at the time of its release.. which is why it is decently pleasant and elitist and fucking annoying all in equal measure.. it's also their best.. hahahaha

I hear their debut is better so ill check that

All My Friends is the most overlong, overrated song there is. I’d rather scrape my eyes out with a butter knife than sit through it again... kinda the way I feel about the whole album. The big two here are very overrated. The only tolerable one is “Get Innocuous!” and it’s still waaaaay too long. Everything here overstays its welcome, and they would still overstay their welcome if they were 3 minutes long. Album sucks hard and I’ve never understood the praise. (Just tried to revisit and yeah couldn’t finish)

Well I disagree completely. The tracks are long, but don't drag on. Get Innocuous! for example keeps adding layers until just feeling hypnotic as fuck. Someone Great has that perfect bittersweet melody and the lyrics are crushing if you've ever lost somebody. Life just goes on. All My Friends is one of the greatest songs ever. Yeah it's repetitive, but that doesn't make it bad. There are many layers of sound that come and go throughout the song and the lyrics are perfect. On top of all this we have the fun and funky Time To Get Away, the catchy sarcastic North American Scum, the jangle goodness of Us V Them, and the glorious melancholic ending that is New York I Love You But You're Letting Me Down.

The weakest are Watch the Tapes and Sound of Silver. The first being really fun, but the vocals are bit exhausting and the second has a great beat, but the only song that's too long for its own good.





To each their own tho. This will never get old to me and clearly I'm not the only one.
