Re: G3N3R1C

The How To Dress Well album is one of my favorites from last year. It takes a bit longer to click than this, as it's more eccentric.

the difference between this and Ocean I find is:

The Weeknd is like a pristinly programmed robot who knows exactly how play with and what to do with their production to illicit those "oooo's" and "aaaahhh's" one inherently feels while listening to chill music. The sheen on this record is impressive considering how raw it is.

Ocean on the other hand I find to be an almost human voice in the fray. His music comes across as so much more heart-felt and tangible in comparison. But in truth beyond simply making chill r&b and releasing their debuts at the same time the similarities between these two records begins to run a bit thin.

basically: I go to The Weeknd when I want to chill I go to Frank Ocean when I want my heart ripped out.

and yes y'all needed to know. obv.

Yea there's not too much of a comparison to be made, just the fact they have been released so close together

I almost have trouble calling this R&B. It's too different. Someone should come up w/ a new genre label for these guys, Ocean, and How To Dress Well.

whats this

Apparently there's a 'skewed' version of the album, all slowed down and blunted out. I'm guessing that's from it. Prefer the mixtape version myself

no thats the original version of The Morning, its still different from the album version but its also slowed down which is what the screwed version is, the album just slowed down.

I listened to this album once in the background, then twice yesterday on a bus ride and now I can't get enough.

The album has some nice moments, but for the most part it's nothing special

I just realized how much better this is in headphones, there's so many little parts of the production that I missed listening to it through my stereo that just make this even better

Same here. The album is much better with headphones.

People saying there is nothing special, have you seen production like that on a R&B album ? Are you saying to me that the guy cannot sing(with a little help from autotune sometime compared to the "big" of the scene now"(which is pretty much always))?

Lyrics are not the strenght of the album, but what do you expect from an R&b album?

Beginning to love the album more.
