I can understand that, it's jarring in places. But think of it this way, it really had an effect on you.
Main problem with it is that he did loads of great records that were not like this at all but everyone goes here first and never tries the other stuff which is more conventional.

own thing and don't care if it fits with what the rest are doing, but it's kinda cool too - so far
