The problem is I've read somewhere that Gira's a christian and that new Swans albums are somewhat spiritual and that the music that to most of people seems ugly and dark he considers uplifting. If Children of God was recorded by any other group I'd say it's obviously anti-religious but with Gira being so strange it might actually be the other way.

Well, even true Christians, or any true practicer of any religion for that matter, could admit that there's good and bad to religion. So I think that he was going for the bad here. Judging from the dark nature of the music, I refuse to believe it's about anything good haha

Yeah I've read that on last.fm but didn't check, turns out it was untrue. Good to know actually, I've no big problems with religious music as long as it's not too preachy (like Dylan's christian trilogy) but ain't it just better with none of it.
