This is gorgeous. The second half drags a little bit though I think.

I thought it was an okay album, though i do feel slightly deceived.. They call themselves a metal band and from what i heard, they are anything but a metal band.

Are you serious? Show me the last time they've refered to themselves as a metal band. In fact, it could be argued that they were never a metal band... doom band, yes -- a bit of gothic rock, yes -- even alt. rock or just rock, yes -- never metal.

Totally not true.

As if doom is not a metal genre at all...

Exactly Voivod, it's called doom metal for a reason.

There's still a difference or there wouldn't be the distinction between doom and traditional metal. It still doesn't answer my main point/question. When was the last time these guys referred to themselves as a metal band.

In almost every interview, they proudly say they're now far away from their metal roots.

But Willie, that distortion and double bass drum (even if it's slow) of their first albums scream metal all the way, but I'd agree if you say they were much more than just a metal band.

Even their first EP was moving away from doom/metal with "Everwake" and then their first EP had the french song and the twenty minute ambient track... anyway, we're splitting hairs. My main issue was with the line:

"...though i do feel slightly deceived. They call themselves a metal band and from what i heard, they are anything but a metal band."

They never fully claimed to be a strictly metal band, but they have always contained elements of it, end of story.

Ok, and? That was never in dispute. This was:

Yeah, they definitely dont see themselves as a metal band. The fact that they completely changed the sound of the song "Sleepless" in their live act just reaffirms this
