Except in this case, this album is for any male that has ever had his heart ripped out by some bitch.

How's that for some broad public sphere of meaning?

You're acting like he's using specific names and specific situations when he isn't. Just because you can't relate to it doesn't mean that nobody else can and the fact that nobody agrees with you is enough proof. You could say the same thing about any band, such as The Beatles using actual names and writing songs based on their experiences with drugs and their trip to India.

Yeah. I think I'm done. I think it is now clear to everyone exactly what you meant. And even more clear that it's just silly and pompous. There is nothing universal about making up a character, giving them a name, and having them represent a feeling. Such as Othello.

There is no difference between someone personally representing an emotion to you and a character doing it. If anything, this is more effective, because he's real. You know it happened. And if it happened to you, too, you don't feel alone and you can relate. It is a universal theme. Who represents the theme does not make it more or less universal.

You are a joke. *tips hat* Good day.

Let me correct that: There is nothing MORE universal about making a character, giving them a name, and having them represent a feeling. Such as Othello. Or the Cat in The Hat.

Lol, for a review condemning the aimlessness and fakeness of an album, this review is aimless and fake...in addition to being completely unfounded, and a terrible use of a thesaurus.

even though I agree with the last paragraph "Another implication of ... a placeholder."; but this is part of what makes the album so good

I think his point is that Othello is much LESS universal, and he's saying that's a good thing. His point, from my understanding, is that Jan Doe's message is too universal, and therefore the meaning behind it is has become too watered-down in the process.
