It's not the same as a simple reissue name change. They want it to be permanently changed. It's similar to when a band changes their name.

It is absolutely as simple as a reissue name change. The fact that it has a well-intentioned reason behind it doesn't change that.
Unless they've got a time machine, that's what the first issue is always going to be called, no matter how wrong they feel it is now.
