Deadwing was really straightforward metal, I think In Absentia is a bit too grim for my tastes.

"I'm having a hard time understanding why this album isn't being wanked over more. I mean, this is Wilson's most ambitious album and there isn't a single track that sounds like fill. This and In Absentia are pretty much all you need by this band."

How can you say that? have you even heard Stupid Dream? that one's the best in my book

"Signify and Stupid dream are easily their best"

Scissorlocked knows where it's at (specifically the SD part).

BTW, In Absentia is one of my faves, but Stupid Dream was pretty much the basis for everything they did afterwards.

I love Signify, but I still wouldn't know where to put it when compared to the others. That's quite a puzzle. Like everything this band does, lol.

Honestly the period between "Great Expectations" and "The Incident" was amazing, I would've been fine with the album sounding like that, but it just didn't happen. That was a great 13-14 mins though.

just...more piano ballads...as many as can fit on an album without sounding repetitive

his piano ballads are almost on par with Yanni's

"its too bad Steven Wilson is such a terrible musician/singer otherwise this would be classic"

We all have different opinions. I'd like to point out, however, that I view him more as a musician than as a singer. His vocals are OK, but far from his strong suit. They suit the music well though.

Kinda underrated; some great songs here (Time flies, The incident, Remember me lover, I drive the

hearse) and some good but forgettable ones (The blind house, Bonnie the cat) . Also the song

placement/division is strange, but the album is solid.

i haven't spun this in like a year, but it wasn't my favorite. it's like if pink floyd decided to write the wall and switched in dogs for comfortably numb.
