Even if you ignore the plagiarism (which has been exaggerated anyway) his playing was never that distinctive.

Totalitarianism was never a derivative of the blues. That's not even debatable.

I disagree with you on that one, Jamie. You put a Led Zep song blasting and you don't even have to know it's Led Zep playing, you can tell from the guitar that it's Jimmy Page.

Same can be said for a Black Sabbath or Deep Purple song. In fact I wouldnt recognize Page's playing
anywhere near as easily as Iommi or Blackmore. Especially Iommi

You know what, Eddie Van Halen is better than all three of them ;)

Nah, he's talented, but he lacks in feelings, too much wankery, he's not even in my top 10

He's in my Top 10 for sure, alongside these three, Space Ace, Hendrix, Slash, even if he's overrated, Gallagher and a few more I can't recall right now.

MrSirLord... Would you be kind to state your top 10?

Never being too sure about my top 10 but Blackmore, Iommi, Gilmour, Santana, Uli Jon Roth, Fripp and

Schenker would be in there, I don't know in which order though

Ok... fair enough not wanting to place Eddie amongst them, he would seem out of context.

Eddie's still a god, and he's probably my favorite "wanker" guitarist besides Jason Becker or Randy Rhoads, but it's not my style of guitar playing

Well Eddie was responsible for the turn metal guitar took during the 80s... he was undoubtedly influential. Now as for the content and the ramifications of this turn, you either like it or not I guess. Anyway, it ended without you having time to lisp nevermind...

Not to the extent of a lot of other guitarists in my opinion. Plant and Bonzo were the most distinctive members in Zeppelin.

Don't get me wrong Page is great guitarist but that's about as far as I'd go; he's great but not special.

I can accept that now that the term "undebatable" came out, and in "my opinion" took place. Cool!

It's ironic, sputnik hates people that use "it is my opinion" to defend themselves, but at the same time, we all know our musical tastes are our opinion

Sputnik it's bipolar

Well out of those 3 that I was talking about earlier it isn't really debatable lets be honest.
