Well, I don't think he's wrong. He could be a politer nice, but hey, if I'm not going to be rude, somebody else has to do it for me.

Great album. Not as good as Leviathan but still excellent. And Nick Greer's review of it sucks. They should put someone elses up as the one that is shown first.

I'd rather you do it. I'm currently attending to the speedy exit of other less desirable users.

Well written review. Your nit-picking is unmatched by anyone not holding a pitchfork, but if you're going to give an album like this a 2, that's to be expected. I do agree that the beginning of The Czar drags a bit, but it's a minor offense, while calling Quintessence luckluster leads me to question if we're listening to the same album. More likely, we're listening to the same album differently. Be well!

Ok, so I'm thinking of making an album. Allow me to vaguely summarise the concept:
a paraplegic using astral projection goes too far and his golden umbilical cord gets burnt and so he floats off into oblivion. A cult, which rasputin is a part of, manages to come into contact with him through divinations and decide to save him. So they put his soul inside rapustins body and when rapsutin is assasinated he guides the boy's soul back to his body?

I have to say, I agree with many of the points Nick brings up. The vocals aren't the best at times, although I seem to enjoy them more than a great many people. Nor are the lyrics, but that's not exactly been Mastodon's forte in the past. Not excusing the fact of course, but one would be missing out if they wrote off Mastodon because of that. Some of the choices structure wise don't come off personally as being great, like including the bit he mentioned around the 6:00 mark in The Last Baron, which is a mar on an otherwise great song.
That being said, I still enjoy the album a fair amount. It just feels as if there's more to evident faults than their earlier albums to my ear.
