what i'm saying is everything has its circumstance and so you can't apply the same criteria and situation to every album.
but still it took me forever to appreciate pop music, but trust me once you do you'll notice the difference in quality like you do for say, converge and emmure.
i agree, everything certainly does have its place. but the musical quality of any album is measurable by the same basic standards. talk to any serious musician with some experience and they will tell you that that is true. i mean if we were just basing ratings on how well an album accomplishes it's intended purpose or defines it's genre, Miley Cyrus should receive 5 ratings from all of us on every single one of her albums. because they're all flawless tween pop records that accomplish their intentions perfectly.
and btw, please don't think i just hate all pop. i actually love lots of pop music...i just happen to think that Lady GaGa is a very poor pop artist.
