yeah this album has brought the good ol' metallica again IMO, with that said the album doesnt even come close to be a Master of Puppes or Black Album (or maybe even And Justice For All) tbh

Drat. I was hoping for a mild reinvention, because frankly, I could never get into their sound.

Good review for a good album. I didnt hate Load and Reload as much as some people, but I like how theyre back on the thrash road again

I never hated Load or ReLoad, but I found St Anger more enjoyable, probably one of the few who did. This one's the best they've done since Justice.

I love Load. ReLoad.. the first 4 songs are good, then it gets boring. St. Anger is mediocre at best. This is cool, but at times feels kinda lacking, for me at least.

I really thought the production brought this album down more than anything. For a band as huge as Metallica, on a label such as one owned by Warner Brothers and with a producer of the caliber of Rick Rubin, this should not have been an issue. Needs more bass.

The issue is the compression, not the bass. And Rick Rubin isn't a mixing engineer either.

Oh I'm well aware of the compression, but the album does need more bass. And I know that Rick Rubin wasn't entirely responsible for the poor production but I'm just saying that being a project made up of three of the biggest names in the music industry production should not have been the way it is.

Such a pansy title to a song for metallica.

This album is pretty bad not gonna lie. Lars was never a good drummer and it shows. This is just a bad metallica cover band now. James can't sing anymore either.

James's voice got way better tbh but songwriting lacks

They're never a cover band until they lose the vocalist.

Such a pansy title to a song for metallica.

Pansy? More like their type (of song title).

Lol, they had badass song titles like Leper Messiah and Ride the Lightning. All Nightmare Long is just lame comparatively.

Doesnt change the fact that when you put everything together they have, the music is generally out of sync. Listen to Cyanide. Theres instances where lars is wailing away at the snare way out of cync with the guitar. It just sounds clunky and poorly put together.

Cyanide is actually a really decent track all around, haven't really dwelved into the details of it that much, but the overall sound on Cyanide is pretty darmn good.
