haha. but really, VLV is quite overhyped. it's ok i guess, but there's much better albums in this genre.

I would hardly count this in the same genre as U2. Sure, if we're talking about earlier Coldplay releases, but this is way above U2's work as far as production-creativity and inventive songwriting.

btw joshua tree's bad hehu

i think u2 is one of those bands where they're good at what they do, but you only need to hear one song to know what they're all about. they're kinda onesided

coldplay was that way too until this album

i don't know, you guys need to give War and Joshua Tree a few more listens. they're a lot better than this. especially you Caleb: you clearly haven't experienced the genius of Bono's lyrics if you think these are more "inventive."

another comparison would be Radiohead...they've got several albums better than this.

seriously they stopped sounding like radiohead a long time ago (after like their first album) (even though people always compare then (wtf???)), and this especially sounds nothing like them

bono's lyrics are bad but so are chris martin's

Yeah, the Radiohead comparisons can be used on a few moments on this record, and that's at least a closer stab than U2 was. War is a pretty terrible album, in my opinion and The Unforgettable Fire was better than Joshua Tree. Chris Martin is a terrible lyricist, Bono isn't much better.

War was the best u2 album imo. Neither Bono nor Chris are particularly amazing lyricists
