I'm still fairly confused over the tracks, but this is how I think the tracks are split:

1. Cygnus....Vismund Cygnus (13:02)

2. The Widow (5:51)

3. L'Via L'Viaquez (12:22)

4. Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore: All 4 parts! (13:10)

5-12. Cassandra Geminni (32 mins - over the rest of the album!)

Okay, I have decided, De-Loused is marginally better than this. What a turn around!

this is actually my least favorite TMV album for some reason... not to say i don't adore it, its just not as pleasing to me as the others.

I can understand that.

Except The Widow and L'Via are two of their best songs ever.

Yeah L'Via and a couple others are pure gold. I love this record to death, but its just my least favorite by them for some reason.

It's a toss up between this and Deloused for me. I listen to Deloused more, but I think this is an overall better album. Bedlam and Amputecture are farther behind.

I totally agree - both Frances and Deloused are both so good that I can't decide which is the better. I listen to this album more, but think they are both absolute classics! I have yet to get hold of Bedlam, but Amputechture is nowhere near as good!

5? Really? I love Mars Volta and all, but i can never get more than half way through this cd. There just seems to be way too much pointless filler and random ambient/frustrating noise bits that drag on for far longer than they should. I think this is their weakest effort so far, but there are still a few good tracks here.

I enjoy the blind love for ambient noises and filler.

Album drags.

I like the ambient... but I can't decide between this and Deloused. This has cooler cover art though, that's gotta count for something, right?

This is probably my favourite album by TMV. The guitar and singing are catchy as hell, and the songs, while chaotic and very strange, all work well together, with a very nice flow to them.

My only problem with the album is that some of the ambient moments seem to drag on for much too long. The ending of Cygnus goes on for at least four minutes, and eventually becomes rather boring. Otherwise an amazing album.
