Man, revisiting all of these one more time to firm up opinions is honestly really damn satisfying. Albums are shifting around in my initial rank like I hadn't expected. Ancient Dreams is out of the top 5 now

In addition to a shitty bass drum sound, the production as a whole feels a bit off. The guitar work is awesome as usual, but the tone feels thin in comparison to here, and even the echo on Messiah's vocals feels like someone raised them in post production. It didn't help that the album was rushed either.
BUT it's a fantastic album regardless of its production.
