I think the vocals are the highpoint of the album to be honest.

No I mean for myself. Half the songs I love and half I think are really bad. Like in the first song when he sings "The bigger they are the harder they fall" it's embarrassing

Most of the album is just embarrassing. Good thing they improved later on

Some great songs on here, but I like their new one so much more than this.

Honestly, I don't know which one I like better. I got into them by their newest CD. I loved it so much I had to check out this one. I instantly liked this one too. So good.
Both CD's I believe are of equal greatness.
And I am not getting with the people above saying it's embarrassing? What?

While it may not seem like a good idea to have more than half of your 3rd album consisting of songs that have previously been heard, Fair To Midland make it work on their major label debut 'Fables From a Mayfly'. With the help of producer David Bottrill, all 6 re-recordings marginally improve on the originals, with a slicker, tighter & more soaring sound suiting the Texan quintet. Where this LP improves on its predecessor however is in the lack of filler, with this dynamic, genre-hopping band delivering a complex & progressive - yet melodic & accessible - batch of 11 tracks. Recommended Tracks: Dance of the Manatee, Vice/Versa, April Fools and Eggmen & Upgrade^Brigade.

All the interludes, the penultimate 3 minute track, the 3 minutes at the end of the closer & Riki Tiki Tavi. It just adds up to a little too much running time imo.
Having said that, 'A&A' grew on me big time (its nowhere near as immediate as this) & I am actually thinking about 4'ing that too. So there isn't much difference between the 2 albums.
