Just heard this yesterday. Best record from these guys since Everything is Fire. They handle the more melancholy/melody focused songwriting so well. The intro to Stare Into Death and the last minute of Inversion are hands down some of the best things I’ve ever heard in music, period. Infectiously groovy but so tragically melodic.

Being pulverised into oblivion is for Neanderthals, or masochists. Ulcerate never really went there, they knew when to tease, when to tickle (even on EiF). When the time came to up the ante, those crushingly heavy moments were more keenly felt as a result.

@Evok, agreed. Fact is they brought in a decent-sized chunk of new fans (like me) and also retained and impressed 98% of their old ones. Genius. Very few bands have ever pulled that off.
