Just because the opener is the best song doesn't mean this is front-loaded. Rat Salad is the only slightly subpar song here

Hand of Doom is the best here and Sabbath song in general tbh. Album is consistently perfect front to back also so I can't knock anyone picking any of them as a favorite.
I will say someone picking Iron Man would have me scratching my head a bit though. Classic song but definitely one of the many "it's be played to death" examples from this era of rock/metal

Side B
No. Title Length
5. "Electric Funeral" 4:53
6. "Hand of Doom" 7:08
7. "Rat Salad" (instrumental) 2:30
8. "Fairies Wear Boots"
Yeah sorry but side B is the clear winner for me

"Iron Man" was played to death for me to, but then i came back around to it. the song i'm sick of hearing is "Paranoid", easily the weakest song here and the band has admitted to throwing it in there last minute on studio demands.

For some reason as much as I've heard Paranoid over the years I've yet to get tired of it. I think it's probably because it's such a short jam tbh. I have heard them talk about it basically being a filler track though. For me it's the second weakest right after Iron Man. I still don't skip it though when I go for jamming this one

The t/t is probably my least favorite here, but it's still enjoyable. I definitely prefer the doomier tracks on here though

counterclockwise discog walk: Revisit on Remastered 1996 Castle Ed. ( perfect sound preserving the original feeling). Such a great cataclysmic album that fundamentally dont care anymore about what we say about it. 10/5 Historical Classic Legend, it has became. Even after many decades of listening to this mythic album, still mega fun to jam. Heard it hundreds of time.
Album cover art always been ugly, this doesn't change neither. The opener & the closer are such hq epic pieces. "Paranoid" & "Iron Man", over popular, but retain catchiness. "Electric Funeral", piece keep it's jam jazz doom fussiness. "Hand Of Doom", pure clean Black Sabbath piece, doom and rhythmic heaviness perfect bland. No weak piece on this LP, not even "Planet Caravan" or "Rat Salad", they rule in their own way.
People need to be reminded this was released in 1970. I'm 56 years old, i was only 4 when they release this magnus opus, yes this is old stuff, relatively speaking. So heavy and creative for his time.
Perso.fav.piece: "Fairies Wear Boots", such a perfect groove, rarely equal. Still got down the spine chills.
Note: btw, perfectly ok to have some 3/3.5/4 sput m8 rating of this. Statistical coherence. Cheers!
