the problem that I find in judging this album by its narrative aspects is this... "USA is evil and still racist", "black entertainers are puppets to multinationals", "money and power corrupt everyone". Those tropes are as old as rap and hip hop culture itself, K isn't touching new topics nor is he doing it through a new fresh perspective. A music album isn't anything without the music, and for me, musically it doesn't do anything new either. Again, blending Hip Hop with Old school RnB and Jazz music isn't exactly newground, and it all sounds pretentious AF, especially when Thundercat is on the feature.



I don't hate it, actually think it's a good album, I gave it a 2.5 because all the hype and because I think Good Kid MAAD city is so much better than this.

If I didn't hear GKMC first I would've given this a 3.5, really... I wasn't even gonna comment on this, I was gonna leave this all alone, but recently with all the music pages and forums making their lists a serious amount of people have been talking about this being par with 36 chambers, Illmatic, the chronicle and "It takes a Nation of millions..." and it just got me. this ISN'T a classic!
