cusp sounds so much better in the albums context. still the weakest song though, which is a testament to how good everything else is

Not like Heritage's scandalous 3.5 average

Yeah I've give like 8 or so, the songs are making way more sense and seem to flow better with every listen.

problem for me with watershed was that i liked it a lot immediately and i think thats because it was just the same ol shit they always did just nowhere near as good

Watershed actually had quite a lot of new ideas. Its problem was being so unfocused

PC is definitely a step forward for Opeth in terms of experimentation. Fuck knows what took them so long to corporate an

orchestra cos damn, it works perfectly.

Watershed is unfocused in all the good ways. The scattered ideas work really well as fresh ideas and it's worth a 4 IMO

okay fine the experimentation was definitely new (blast beats over singing, etc) but god damn it didnt have to feel so forced.

the basked masked vocals on moon is so well executed and needed. on hessian its really just a gimmick

none of Watershed feels that forced to me. Maybe the spontaneous heavy bit in Hessian peel does but I thought the Lotus Eater flows pretty well.

idk it doesnt have the flow of PC at all though

Thing about PC is I can definitely see myself jamming it back to front often with no issues. I've not been able to do that with Heritage or Watershed for a while tbh.
