its a mix between popular music (POP) of the late 90's early 00's, alternative rock, and punk. just as hardcore is a mix of metal and punk and metalcore is a mix of melo deth / metal and hardcore and jazz fusion is a mix of jazz funk and progressive music

Not to me. As long as the lyrics aren't so bad that they're laughable and distracting, good instrumentation and vocals can
make a band amazing despite sub-par lyrics. For me, music is way more about how it sounds, progresses, emotes etc. than
what it says. Probably why I don't have much of a taste for folk. Actually, scratch that, folk can be pretty emotional.
