Yeah Mikael's acoustic parts are incredible, so clean, accurate and emotional... Hard skills for sure.

"But Harvest is at the end of the day a 4-chord song while Benighted is a finger-picking masterpiece amongst other things. There's levels, just saying."

Sometimes simpler is better.

Yes, one of the finest examples for that following right after Harvest, the main riff of The Drapery Falls. Or the main riff of Blackwater Park which consists of a few chords but those just rip.

I just love the intro for The Drapery Falls because of how textured it is. It's a simple chord progression, but the mix of the production and the layers of guitar work make it ethereal and otherworldly... like the musical equivalent of entering the Star Gate from 2001 in how vivid and yet intangible it is

When that riff comes back at the end, that's one of my favorite moments in music ever. My favorite moment on here, too, which says a lot

My favorite moment on here would be the chorus of Bleak, followed by the "SUN SETS OVER BLACKWATER PARK" ending of the title track, and then the badass technical section of Leper Affinity (before the refrain), and then the Drapery Falls riff would probably be after that :]

The Leper Affinity has several of my favorites on here, haha. The finale of the title track goes without saying. Apart from that, I love the way the last main riff of Harvest kicks in with the drum fill. I know it's only a small thing, but it makes me happy everytime I hear it

The Leper Affinity is still my favorite metal song to this day. The pacing and flow of that song are ridiculously perfect, and it's one of the few pieces along with works like Hemispheres or Wish You Were Here where I wouldn't change a single note to try and tamper with it

Plus, on top of that, it's still a powerful, emotional song that pulls out all the best stops for an Opeth tune

^^That one's amazing too. Too much awesome stuff on here. Some of the tracks on here have more legendary moments than a normal whole album would have while still being great.

If the outro to Leper Affinity doesn't give you chills you're doing it wrong.

i usually only have the capacity to experience chills once per album and with this one it's always during the title track

T/t is one of those songs that's too good, every second is masterfully crafted.

The clean interlude in the middle of the t/t is legit the most haunting and iconic passage the band has ever done. The way it captures the spirit of that cover-art is uncanny
