Yeah I don’t really think there’s a right or wrong answer, and tbh I think there’s some songs that sound better with the older production, but most I like more with the AWLWLB style going on. The title track, In Her Shadow, and First Light / Last Light all sound better on the original imo, but I think the riffier and more chaotic cuts all sound better with that extra clarity. Heartless, Drop Out, Death King, In Her Blood, and Hanging Moon benefit most from it imo

I almost kinda want a Jane Redux, I don’t think it will happen and nothing will ever replace the original for me but it would still be cool to have. I’d love to hear a more modern sounding Thaw, Bitter and Then Some, Heaven in Her Arms, and Phoenix in Flight especially would sound so cool in that style.

The Jane Live recording shows just how good some of these songs could potentially sound.

I've always thought Jane was the most in need of a Redux because it lacks the punch of their other records, especially in the drum department, but the band and most fans seem to think that's sacrilege. Jane Live sounds so good. I don't think Kurt will ever allow it to happen though. They seem aware of the status that record holds, so are unwilling to touch it.

Time to jam Jane Live!

I just don’t get it, I guess. I’ve never listened to what I consider a flawless album and think to myself, “damn, I wish it sounded better. They should re-record it.”

Jane just sounds a little thin compared to everything that came after it, that doesn't mean it's not incredible or perfect. YFM's production sounds better than Jane to my ears and they chose to do a Redux for YFM, so why not Jane too at that point?

I have a Jane tattoo, so there's no doubting my love for the album. I typically hate remixes/remasters anyway because I've already grown to love an album exactly the way it sounds but ya never know.

Also Jane Live sounds so beefy and massive. I just wish there wasn't so much reverb on the vocals.

Ya I have a Jane tat too lol, perfect album but shit, when I’ve listened to it probably literally a thousand times, I gotta say some kind of remix would be welcome

Got a YFM and the ninth moon from AWLWLB too 🤘

Either No Heroes or the new one is up next, I’m leaning toward Love is Not Enough tho, I didn’t really love the cover when I first saw it but it’s grown on me… and I think the full art is so sick, where it shows the angel(?) overlooking a completely destroyed earth. Seems fitting.

After enough tries, I can't with this shit. The bordering thirds range from decent to great but the title track and In Her Shadow are a nightmare to listen to.

LOL ^ @Arthropod. The taste on this site seems to skew extremely heavy and then again extremely poppy weirdly enough. I stopped seeking out the super high scoring classics unless I encounter them organically. I'm often left puzzled with what gets an overwhelming number of 5s here. I find it best to just vibe with what you like, review what you wanna review and keep the vibes positive. If you have negative thoughts it's generally just best to keep it to yourself otherwise long boring flame wars ensue.

It took me a really long time to truly understand that music taste is unbelievably subjective and it doesn't matter who likes what at the end of the day. Life's too short to push yourself through albums you don't enjoy, normally you can tell pretty early on. Excuse the rant - I've been philosophizing on this subject for a while.

Not to pull out the ratings, but this is a person with like 5 BFMV 5s. And I rate their debut pretty highly
